🎧 MI Event DJs — Frequently Asked Questions

Planning an event? We’re here to make things easy, fun, and crystal clear. Here are some answers to the questions we get most often:

❓ How long have you been a DJ?

Since 1998! I started during my freshman year of high school, DJing school dances and private parties—and never looked back.

🎛️ What kind of equipment do you use?

We use only top-of-the-line professional DJ gear, staying up to date with brands like Pioneer DJ, Native Instruments, EV, Chauvet DJ, and ADJ.

🔁 Do you have backup plans if something goes wrong?

Absolutely. We always bring backup gear—including a tablet loaded with top current hits and classics—so the music never stops.

🙋 Will the DJ take song requests?

Only if you want us to. If allowed, we filter requests based on your preferences. We’ll never play a song or genre you’ve asked us to avoid.

🎶 Can we request songs for the DJ to play?

Yes! You can select your “must plays” and “do not plays” using our easy-to-use online planning forms.

📂 Can we provide our own music?

Yes, but please send us your files in advance. Make sure your selections are appropriate for your audience.

🚫 Can we see you at another event?

Out of respect for our clients' privacy, we don’t allow drop-ins at live events. However, we’re happy to provide references, reviews, videos, or meet with you in person or online.

💳 What are your payment terms?

  • A deposit is due at booking (amount varies by package).

  • Final payment is due one week before the event.

  • We accept debit/credit cards via our online system or cash at meetings.

💵 Do we need to tip the DJ?

Gratuity is not included in our pricing. If your DJ crushed it, tips of 15–20% are appreciated—but never expected. We accept tips via cash, or card—even after the event.

⏰ Can we add extra time at the event?

Yes! We offer overtime if the party's still going strong. Payment is required before overtime begins (credit/debit via Square or cash accepted).

📅 When should we book a DJ?

For weddings, we recommend booking 6–12 months in advance. For other events, less time is typically fine. Last-minute booking? We’ll do our best to accommodate you.

🍽️ Should we feed the DJ?

Not required! If you choose to provide a meal, we’ll eat quickly and out of sight with the other vendors. Please don’t worry about feeding us unless you’d like to.

🎵 How many songs should we request?

Share 15–20 songs you love across various genres and artists, and a few you’d rather avoid. That gives your DJ a perfect sense of your musical vibe.
